Writing: Value

Info

Writing Value includes reflections on value and thinking prompts:

• What are words worth?
• What are your words worth?
• How does value shift according to context and time?
• How do we articulate the value of that which is intangible in a way that clearly upholds its worth?

This workshop is an exercise in exploring the value of a writing practice beyond external measures of success and income generation, though confronting the reality of creative economy. Writing: Value is an attempt to generate a temporary community that appraises experiment and reflection within writing practice. It embeds play as a strategy for reclaiming intangible yet life sustaining values.

In this workshop we will explore Chatsworth Road’s Sunday Market as a site of value exchange. we will buy from the market. We will also use Chatsworth Road to attempt to make a trade, give our words in exchange for something. We will engage with the question of What are words worth? through a few writing exercises that will experiment with ideas of trade, value and economy.

Workshop includes vegan gluten free lunch and a small stipend to use at the market as part of a creative exercise within the workshop.
