Deadline Extended to 7 July!
About the role:
As Cooperative Financial Officer, you will work alongside the current Financial Officer in developing the cooperative’s economic infrastructure with support from the co-directors. You will further assist in keeping not/nowhere’s finances and accounts running like clockwork with oversight and understanding of the budget and all financial activities, while overseeing monthly preparations of cash flow and management accounts, as well as yearly statutory accounts.
You will co-liaise with an external bookkeeper and accountant, submit information to funders as required and conduct budget reviews in board meetings.
You will support not/nowhere directors to direct cooperative resources towards aiding the not/nowhere community in alignment with our core philosophies. While familiarity and interest in cooperative economics are desirable, we view this to be inclusive of a range of formal and informal practices. Examples of such practices include mutual aid, grassroots organising, the voluntary reciprocal exchange of resources and services for mutual benefit; time-swaps and hour banking.
The successful applicant will be organised and methodical, with a keen interest in arts education, contemporary arts, performing arts, artists’ moving image, or film. Proficiency in numbers, comfort with managing finances, and a mathematical way of thinking are essential for the role. However, no specific mathematical knowledge is required.
Finally, you are required to commit to working the equivalent of 14 hours per month, as weekly half days, prioritising Mondays. We would ideally like you to work in person from our East London studio as we value community, but we can be flexible around this to accommodate access needs.
